Dear Wildcat Family,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!!! I always like to start my messages with “Wildcat Family”, because that is what we are: family. Just like families, we cheer each other on and support one another. We are one another’s number one fans. We work to make each other better, smarter, stronger and more confident knowing we can lean on one another when things get difficult. We share a common goal and that goal is to provide our children with the best educational experience possible. We know that even though we may not always see things from the same perspective, we trust that we have our children's’ best interest in mind. Our goal unites us to achieve positive outcomes for each person that walks through our doors, whether they are a student, a parent or member of our community. All are welcome in our house.
Families also recognize and celebrate successes. Our successes on our state achievement tests for the 2018-2019 school year are second to none...literally. Crawford Woods improved achievement scores more than any other elementary school in our district. We improved our achievement as a school at each and every grade level. We closed learning gaps and are projected to receive a “B” in our Gap Closing measure on the state report card. These are just some of the successes that our family is proud of. We look forward to continued successes like these for the 2019-2020 school year.
Families keep one another safe, and safety is a big priority. In order for our children to learn, they must feel safe. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Do not leave it to somebody else. If you see unsafe behavior, please report it immediately. We don’t want to ever be surprised, and you are never bothering anyone. If our internal voice says “Should I report that?”, the answer is “YES!”. Trust your gut!
Families push one another to be the best they can be. We want the best for our children. The best education is the gift that we are able to provide. We will help children grow both academically and emotionally. We focus on our academic growth. We want all the children in our house to grow one academic year, at minimum. We would like to see more than a year’s growth for our children if that’s possible. Instead of emphasizing if our children have an A, B, C, D or F, we focus on improving a little each day. We know if we grow a little bit each day, we will be smarter at the end of the year than the day we started.
Above all things, families love one another. This is the key ingredient in a family. This is what we represent and it is the love of learning, teaching, and children that drives us to be the best us we can be. And because we love our children, we understand, sometimes they make mistakes, but those mistakes are learning experiences. We build positive relationships with one another and respect one another. We see and celebrate our individuality and diversity, realizing we are all wildcats when we enter our school. I want Crawford Woods to be your family. A place where you feel safe, loved, and celebrated. This is what being a Wildcat is all about! I look forward to getting to know each of you and hope we all have a successful 2019-2020 school year!
