Hamilton City Schools Senior Director of Secondary Programs, Rick Pate, wears several hats...and apparently one includes a screen!  At the invitation of Mr. David Bothast, Riverview's 5th grade science teacher, Mr. Pate organized a hands-on presentation on beekeeping and apiary science using tools and equipment from his own farming and beekeeping practices.

The Riverview Royals have a new friend in Mr. B's Learning Lab named "Audrey".  Audrey is a carnivorous venus fly trap.  She recently spent some time the nook of the atrium (by the cafeteria) to receive some much needed solar exposure.  She was accompanied by an opened banana.  Our Riverview Royals were encouraged to use their inferencing skills paired with their own experiences to determine why, can you?

Mr. B's 5th graders learn about interconnections within our ecosystem by comparing “Taki Fingers” to cross pollination.

They are sorting their M & M candies to practice important math skills! They also completed a Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme sort. Was it part of the rhyme or not? These hard working Kindergarten Royals show what it is like to be #bigblueonthemove!

Practicing writing sight words in such an engaging, hands-on way MADE this Royal's day!

Miss Davis' Royal second graders love word hunting as they search for words in their books that have long vowels and short vowels. Students get to come up to the board one at a time and add their findings to the list.

It is very important that you fill out your child's information in Final Forms prior to beginning school in order for your child to receive his/her Chromebook. The information that you submit in Final Forms will also be what teachers use to let you know who your child's teacher will be. Here is a tutorial video that will show you how to complete the forms. ALL STUDENTS will need to update their forms to complete the additional information requirements for Chromebook distribution.
