Going the Distance in Engineering!

The winning bridge!

#1 Ben Jestice

Lindsey Wilkey is this week's #futurereadymaker here at HHS-FC! Ms. Wilkey organized an authentic problem straight from the common practice of many urban development projects - build a functioning bridge within the constraints of the environment. The students competed to see "who could create the longest bridge" while only using one single piece 11" x 17" paper and just two wooden blocks. This original bridge also could not touch the tabletop in the process - what a feat! Ms. Wilkey remarked that "throughout the day, students continued to be more competitive and challenge themselves" further in the project. What an amazing academic lesson that prepares our young minds for a true, genuine career as engineers or civic planners. WAY TO GO, WILKEY! Not to mention, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE AMAZING FRESHMEN DESIGNERS!

Top contenders were:
