Testing
The following standardized tests are administered to students attending Hamilton City School District for the 2011-2012 school year:
- Kindergarten Readiness Assessment–Literacy (KRAL)
- Iowa Test of Basic Skills–Grades 3 and 6
- Cognitive Abilities Test–Grades 3 and 6
- EXPLORE–Grade 9
- English, Mathematics, Reading and Science
- Ohio Achievement Tests as follows:
- Grade 3–Reading and Mathematics
- Grade 4–Reading and Mathematics
- Grade 5–Reading, Mathematics and Science Grade 6–Reading and Mathematics
- Grade 7–Reading and Mathematics
- Grade 8–Reading, Mathematics and Science
- PLAN–Grade 10 (CP English students)
- Ohio Graduation Test–Grades 10, 11 and 12
- Reading, Mathematics, Writing, Science, Social Studies
- Quality Core–Honors and PAP Students–Grades 8–12
- English, Mathematics and Science
Standardized scores from these tests are recorded in the cumulative record of each student and may be reviewed by the parent upon written request to the school. Student performance on tests helps the district to individualize instruction.
In addition, the following formative assessments are used throughout the school year to assess student progress:
- Diagnostic Assessments–Grades Kindergarten, 1, 2 and 3
- Star Early Literacy and STAR Reading and Math–Grades Kindergarten–Grade 8
- Pro-Ohio Diagnostics–Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8
- Reading, Mathematics and Science
- Grade 9 - Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
- Examview–Grades 10, 11 and 12
