On Friday, February 28 Garfield hosted an outstanding Career Fair for the 8th-grade student body. More than 30 business representatives were in the building along with Butler Tech and Miami University.
Prior to the Fair, students were given career aptitude tests to help them pinpoint their career interests. In addition, students learned how to properly introduce themselves in a professional environment, along with how to dress and the appropriate questions to ask.
The Career Fair served to:
- Expose students to career pathways
- Expose students to high-growth, high-demand career opportunities
- Expose students to postsecondary options such as community colleges, tech schools, and the military
- Give students the opportunity to ask questions of someone in a career of their interest
The event was a tremendous success as our students were empowered with knowledge of what it will take for them to fulfill their career and education goals.
