College Standards
Dual credit courses are college courses in all respects. The curriculum is the same used on the campus and responsibilities are the same as all other college students.
Expectations for a college student vary greatly from what is expected of a high school student. It requires a high level of responsibility, motivation and self discipline to complete the course to make acceptable grades. Homework moves to the connotation of coursework and may require research, additional reading, and studying and test preparations.
High school students will need to plan more time for studying while taking a dual credit class to ensure success. A common plan to pursue for class preparation is two hours outside of class to study, review or complete assignments is equal to one hour in class. Time investment is crucial.
