Instructional Media Center Services

The Hamilton City School District's Technology Department is housed at the (IMC) Instructional Media Center. The Technology Department is comprised of the Instructional Media Center Department, the Tech Support Department, and the Library Services Department.

Instructional Media Center Services

  • The IMC provides computer specification sheets and AV purchasing information as requested.
  • The IMC provides district-wide vendor information for computer, AV, and technology purchases.
  • The IMC is the district-wide receiving agent for Computers.
  • IMC staff inventories, delivers, and installs all items received at the IMC.

Grant Implementation & Compliance

  • The IMC maintains implementation and compliance of the SchoolNet, SchoolNet Plus, and Title V grants.

District-Wide Budgets.

  • The IMC manages the IMC budget, Title V budget, SchoolNet budgets, and Technology budget.

District-Wide Audio-Visual Equipment.

  • The IMC Instruction Materials Library houses a wide variety of AV equipment. This equipment is circulated to HCSD employees on a short term basis for special projects.
  • Equipment items are requested via the "Instructional Materials Request" form.
  • The IMC also houses media and sound equipment, which may be used for HCSD performances and meetings. Usage of this equipment requires a media technicianto set-up the equipment.
  • Requests for special sound and media equipment should be made well in advance of the event. 

District-Wide Publications.

  • The IMC produces The Informer, a quarterly publication that contains technology information and resources.  

District-Wide Media Production Facilities.

  • The IMC houses a large Laminator,  Ellison Blocks, Overhead Projector and Ibbico Machine.
  • These items must be used at the IMC.
  • There is a small charge for lamination

SOITA Agent

  • The IMC maintains the district’s SOITA membership.  SOITA is the Southwestern Ohio Instructional Technology Association. Click here for more information on SOITA

Technology Training Program

  • The IMC maintains the district Technology Training Program.
  • The training Program includes: ProgressBook, First Class, INFOhio Online Resourses, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
 

Computer Repair  

  • The IMC maintains a call in help desk for computer repair. Dial extension 4444 and give the support person the following information in order to get your repair into the database.
    • Name
    • School          
    • Room Number
    • Phone
    • Asset Number of the piece of equipment (District ID Tag No.)
    • Equipment make or model
    • A description of the problem

Library Services

  • The IMC assists the libraries in their use of the SIRSI automated circulation system used by all the libraries in the district.

Tech Support Services
The IMC provides tech support services to the entire Hamilton City School District. These services are delivered via a work order system. Support areas include: computer hardware and software, network maintenance, audio-visual equipment, new equipment inventory and installation, media equipment preparation for district events.

District-Wide Agent for Repair and Maintenance of Computers and Media Equipment.
  • The IMC offers in-house repair service of HCSD computers and media equipment.
  • The service is provided via a work-order system.
  • The IMC coordinates the purchasing of supplies for the repair of computers and media equipment.

District-Wide Instructional Materials Library.

Library Services

The Instructional Media Coordinator serves as the district Library Supervisor. To learn more about the Hamilton City School District Libraries view the School Library Web Page.

The Library Supervisor and Instructional Media Center staff provide the following library services:

  • District-Wide Title V Innovative Technologies grant plan, implementation, and compliance for libraries.
  • Maintains District-Wide Electronic Resources.
  • Provides Tech Support for library networks, automation, and online  resources.
  • District-Wide Coordination of Professional Activities for Librarians.
  • District-Wide Training and Inservices.
  • District-Wide Library Collection Development Assessment.
  • District-Wide Professional Magazine routing.
  • District-Wide Library Statistics.
    • The IMC compiles collection and circulation statistics for the entire district.
    • Each library maintains statistics and reports them to the IMC monthly.
