A rigorous core curriculum is the foundation of the services available for
Gifted students at the Elementary level. Modifications focus on differentiation
of process, product, depth, complexity, and breadth of topics.
Challenge-Study
Instructional services provided by Gifted Specialists offer academic challenge for grades 4-6 during weekly instructional sessions at each building. Other accommodations include PETS (Primary Enrichment Thinking Skills) for primary students, collaboration with classroom teachers, cross-grade level instruction, targeted enrichment, and a variety of contests and competitions (e.g., The Stock Market Game, Continental Math League and WordMasters) which extend the core curriculum and address state standards.
Full-Time
Classes are offered at Adams Elementary for students across the district* who meet established criteria. Gifted Specialists provide a rich learning environment with enrollment limits, departmentalized inquiry-based instruction, integration of a state-of-the-art technology lab and instruction focused on high ability learners.
In addition to services for students, the Hamilton City School District also provides Professional development,
resource assistance, and classroom support for teachers who work with gifted and high ability students.
